Agenda for the Week of April 29th
Good Morning, Afternoon, Evening,
Just a reminder that progress reports will be going out Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
Students are trying to finish reading Lightning Thief. As they are reading, they should be taking notes on each chapter by completing the 5Ws and H graphic organizer for each chapter. Students do have time in class to read and take notes. Some take advantage of it while others are just social and are getting behind.
Those who are behind can come in during Tuesday afternoon tutorials or Thursday and Friday morning tutorials. We are going to the library today. They can check out the novel or go to the public library to check out the novel. It's nothing like having their own copy by purchasing one from Barnes and Nobles or Half Price Books. The audio of the chapters are also on YouTube. This skill will help them to be focuses, build stamina, increase vocabulary, and comprehension.
Again, I would love parent volunteer on careers. If you are interested, please reach out to me.
If you would like to contribute reward items to our class, please reach out to me.
It is the end of the year and some students aren't making right choices. I encourage our students to stay in class where there is safety, and they don't have to get caught up in the drama, but I have some who still want to go out. If you would like, check your student's exit pass to see how often they are leaving class. You will know better than me if it is truly necessary. I am not referring to those with medical concerns.
Students are using permanent markers to draw over themselves. I suggest checking Home Access to see if they are passing. If not, most likely they are not utilizing their time.
My tutorials are Tuesdays after school from 3:35-4:30 and on Thursday and Friday mornings from 7:50-8:10. (except for this week)
All of my assignments can be done digitally. If not, just contact me via email.
Weekly Agenda:
Monday:

Updates from Nurse Berry:
The Covid reporting button for students and staff will remain in the same location on the RRISD website, but the link has changed and will direct you to a new Google reporting form. The link is listed above for your convenience. All cases must be reported and student must have an RN generated Return To School Letter before returning to campus. Please note that students must be out five days FROM the first day of symptoms or the day of the positive test result, whichever comes first. For example, if a student tests or has symptoms on January 4th, 2024, this would be day 0. 5 days out FROM this initial day would mean the student can return January 10th, 2024.

**Just a reminder that most of my assignments can be accessed online. If not, email me, and I can work something out possibly or extend the assignment for that student.
If students make a 69 or below, they can retake the assignment. The highest that they will make on a retake is a 70. I am observing where students are keeping failing grades and are not asking to do retakes.
If students don't have their smart tags for the bus, they need to go down to the office by 2 so that they don't miss their bus.
Cell Phone Free Zone
Parents and guardians, we greatly appreciate your support in ensuring that our students do not access their phones while inside the building. We have had several incidents where students are accessing their phones and taking pictures and/or videos during the school day. This policy is in place to protect students' privacy and to ensure they are not distracted during school. Students are reminded each morning to power off their cell phones and put them in their backpacks. We will continue to confiscate student phones as we see them. If you need to get a hold of your child during the school day, please contact the front office (512)464-5200. We will notify your student that you have called and we can either give them a message or we will have them call you. Again, we appreciate all your support.
